Age verification procedures can be rendered more effective through campaigns and signage that target the alcohol sellers and would-be underage purchasers.

Locations

Campaign materials may be placed in the following locations:

Retail premises

  • Entrance
  • Alcohol section (e.g., of a grocery store)
  • Point of sale (POS)

Elsewhere

  • Media (radio, TV, magazines, etc.)

Messages

Campaign messages can have the following goals:

  • Remind servers and sellers to verify age
  • State the applicable law
  • Warn (young-looking) customers that they may be carded
  • Reinforce the commitment to prevent underage sales
