Age verification procedures can be rendered more effective through campaigns and signage that target the alcohol sellers and would-be underage purchasers.
Locations
Campaign materials may be placed in the following locations:
Retail premises
- Entrance
- Alcohol section (e.g., of a grocery store)
- Point of sale (POS)
Elsewhere
- Media (radio, TV, magazines, etc.)
Messages
Campaign messages can have the following goals:
- Remind servers and sellers to verify age
- State the applicable law
- Warn (young-looking) customers that they may be carded
- Reinforce the commitment to prevent underage sales
